Spend & Get

1.1 Module Introduction

Spend & Get is a popular promotional method where customers receive free items or additional benefits when they purchase specified items or reach a certain spending threshold. Its primary goals are to boost item sales, increase purchase quantities, and enhance customer loyalty—making it ideal for inventory clearance or launching new items. Multiple gift configurations are supported, including quantity-based (Buy X items, Get Y free) and spending-based (Spend X amount, Get Y free) offers.

  • Period: Select start and end dates for optimal timing:

    • Time Slot Restriction: Set applicable time windows (e.g., “2 PM - 5 PM daily” or “Monday to Friday”).
    • Date Restriction: Specify specific dates to limit the promotion to selected days.

2.2 Promotion Rule Configuration

STEP 1: Select Promotion Rule Type

  • Spend/Spend Every X Amount, Get Y Items Free: Customers receive Y free items when their order reaches X amount.
  • Buy/Buy Every X Items, Get Y Items Free: Customers receive Y free items when purchasing X qualifying items.

STEP 2: Restrict to Same item (Optional)

  • Enable this setting to require free items to match the purchased item (e.g., buy 2 coffees, get 1 coffee free).

STEP 3: Discount Application Order

  • From Lowest to Highest Original Price:

    • Rule Explanation: When multiple eligible items are in the order, the system prioritises applying the free offer to lower-priced items first.
    • Scenario Example: If a customer buys item A ($9.00) and item B ($5.00), the free offer applies to item B first.
    • Applicable Scenario: Ideal for merchants looking to protect profit margins by avoiding free high-priced items.
  • From Highest to Lowest Original Price:

    • Rule Explanation: When multiple eligible items are in the order, the system prioritises applying the free offer to higher-priced items first.
    • Scenario Example: If a customer buys item A ($9.00) and item B ($5.00), the free offer applies to item A first.
    • Applicable Scenario: Suitable for attracting customers to purchase higher-value items.

2.3 Applicable Stores Configuration

STEP 1: Select Applicable Stores

  • Choose participating stores (supports selecting all stores or specific locations by region).

STEP 2: Store-Specific Rules (Optional)

  • Set customised promotion rules for different stores to implement flexible marketing strategies.

2.4 Qualifying Items Configuration

STEP 1: Select Qualifying items

  • Choose items that trigger the promotion (supports all items, categories, or individual items).

2.5 Gift Configuration

STEP 1: Select Gift items

  • Choose items to be offered as gifts (supports individual item selection only).

2.6 Advanced Settings

  1. Participant Restrictions: Configure eligible user groups in Advanced Settings:

    • Membership Tiers: Limit the promotion to specific membership levels (e.g., VIP, Silver Card members).
    • User Tags: Filter users by tags (e.g., new users, returning users).
  2. User Participation Limits:

    • Total Participation Limit per User: Set the maximum number of times a user can participate during the promotion (e.g., 3 times per user).
    • Daily Participation Limit per User: Restrict daily participation (e.g., 1 time per day).
  3. Maximum Discount per Order:

    • Set the upper limit of discount value per order. Even if the order meets multiple promotion criteria, the discount will not exceed this limit to avoid excessive losses.
    • Example: If the maximum discount per order is set to $50, the final discount value will not exceed $50, even if the order qualifies for a higher discount.
  4. Whether Side Dishes Participate in Promotion:

    • Threshold Calculation: Side dishes are included in threshold calculation by default.
    • Participate: The system treats main dishes and side dishes as a whole.
    • Scenario Example: A merchant sets a “Spend $100 Get 1 Free item B” promotion. A customer buys item A ($100), and item B includes a side dish. Since the side dish participates, both item B and the side dish are free.
    • Not Participate: The system only considers main dish prices for promotion eligibility.
    • Scenario Example: A merchant sets a “Spend $100 Get 1 Free item B” promotion. A customer buys item A ($100), and item B includes a $10 side dish. Since the side dish does not participate, only item B is free, and the side dish requires additional payment.
  5. Whether Sub-dishes/Modifiers/Preparation Methods Participate in Promotion:

    • Threshold Calculation: Sub-dishes/modifiers/preparation methods are included in threshold calculation by default.
    • Participate: The system treats main dishes and sub-dishes/modifiers/preparation methods as a whole.
    • Scenario Example: A merchant sets a “Spend $100 Get 1 Free item B” promotion. A customer buys item A ($100), and item B includes a sub-dish/modifier/preparation method. Since it participates, both item B and the add-on are free.
    • Not Participate: The system only considers main dish prices for promotion eligibility.
    • Scenario Example: A merchant sets a “Spend $100 Get 1 Free item B” promotion. A customer buys item A ($100), and item B includes a $10 sub-dish/modifier/preparation method. Since it does not participate, only item B is free, and the add-on requires additional payment.
  6. Sharing & Mutual Exclusion Rules: The system sets default sharing and mutual exclusion relationships for different discount types (e.g., coupons, promotions, membership prices, membership discounts). Merchants can use the default rules or configure custom rules:

    • Use Default Sharing & Mutual Exclusion Plan: The system applies a universal set of rules for all discount types.
    • Configure Custom Rules: Merchants can independently set sharing or mutual exclusion relationships with membership prices, membership discounts, coupons, and other promotions during creation.
    • Custom configurations take precedence over the default plan in case of conflicts.
