❓FAQRS KDS

RS KDS

1 How to select the login mode for the first-time setup?

💡

Note:

The KDS follows the rule of "Link self first, then link other clients." One device must be designated as the Master KDS.

  • Master KDS: Select “Configure LocalServer Address.” This device acts as the server. Enter the local IP: 127.0.0.1.
  • Sub KDS: Select “Configure KDS Address.” Enter the actual IP address of the computer where the Master KDS is installed.

2 What should I do if the KDS service fails to start and keeps searching for a store during login?

Cause:

The default KDS service port (9006) is occupied by another program, causing the service to stop automatically after starting.

Solution:

STEP 1: Check Port Occupation: Press Win + R, type cmd, and press Enter. Run the command netstat -aon|findstr "9006".

  • Note: If it goes directly to the next line, the port is free. If results appear, the port is occupied. Note the PID (the number in the last column).

STEP 2: End the Occupying Process: Open Task Manager. Find the corresponding PID in the “Details” or “Processes” tab, right-click it, and select “End task”.

STEP 3: Configure and Start Service: Click the Windows Start menu, search for and open config KDS Service.exe.

💡

Note:

You must select process for the Loader option.

STEP 4: Log In Again: Manually start the service in the configuration tool. Once started successfully, reopen the KDS client to discover the store and log in.

3 How to resolve the “Path Error” prompt when logging into KDS?

Cause:

Reinstalling KDS to a new directory causes a mismatch with the path recorded in Windows Services.

Solution:

STEP 1: Verify Path: Open Windows Services, right-click the KDS service, and select Properties. Check if the “Path to executable” matches the new installation folder. If not, proceed below.

STEP 2: Open Registry: Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.

STEP 3: Modify Path: Press Ctrl + F to search for the KDS service. Find the ImagePath value, right-click to Modify, and update it to the correct installation path.

STEP 4: Restart Service: Restart the KDS service in Windows Services to apply changes and log in.

4 Does KDS have separate domestic and overseas versions?

A: No, the same version is used globally.

5 Why does KDS show “Held item, cannot be operated”?

A: This is by design. You must first “Fire” the held item on the POS before it can be bumped into the KDS.

6 How to fix the “A JavaScript error occurred in the main process” error on startup?

A: This is caused by missing DLL files. Copy the missing DLL files from a PC with a working KDS to the installation directory of the affected PC.

7 Why is the “Sync Local to Cloud” button missing on KDS?

A: This is a permission issue. Please log in with an account that has “IT Admin” privileges.

8 How does a store sync KDS configurations from HQ?

A:

  • HQ Push: Log into the BO portal (HQ level) > Operations > Restaurant Management > KDS Config Share, and push the configuration.
  • Store Sync: Log into the store’s KDS, click the Settings icon > Cloud Configurations, select the pushed config, and click Download.

9 Why do POS orders not appear on KDS?

A:

  • Ensure the KDS toggle is enabled in POS Settings > General Settings.
  • Check the KDS settings to ensure the logical screen is assigned to the correct prep department.
  • Verify that the ordered item profile is properly assigned to a prep department.

10 Where is the KDS prep time configured?

A: In the BO portal: Go to Restaurant Management > Prep Time Config.

11 What if KDS registration fails or loops back to the registration screen?

A: Please uninstall and reinstall the KDS application.

12 How to connect an Android KDS to a Windows host?

A:

STEP 1: Turn off the firewall on the Windows host.

STEP 2: Ensure both devices are on the same LAN.

STEP 3: Enter the host’s LAN IP address on the Android device during registration (Do NOT use 127.0.0.1).

13 Will un-bumped items disappear automatically from KDS?

A: Yes. They will automatically disappear after a default time of 3 hours. This duration cannot be modified.

14 Will items from a retroactive order be transmitted and displayed on the KDS?

Retroactive order scenario:

Due to operational reasons, an order was not rung into POS software, but the kitchen has already prepared the items and served them to the guest. The order needs to be retroactively entered into the system, without requiring the kitchen to prepare it again or print a prep ticket.

Retroactive orders will not be routed to the KDS for display.

Since the items do not need to be prepared again, the item information will not be sent to the KDS.

15 The KDS ticket is set to “Display only after the previous screen is operated”, but after placing an order, it displays simultaneously on both the Prep Screen and the Expo Screen.

Settings:

Display:

Cause: This is caused by enabling the “disabled screen linkage” parameter.

16 Will placing a retroactive order on the POS display the items on the KDS?

A: No, they will not be displayed.
